About the role

We’re looking for proactive and approachable Financial Wellbeing Assistants to join the new Basic Needs team at the University of Manchester’s Student Union, which aims to provide support for students around food, finances, housing, and other basic needs.

As a Financial Wellbeing Assistant, you will play a vital role supporting financial wellbeing initiatives and establishing a supportive and welcoming community for students using the centre.

While some basic administrative tasks may be required, most of your working day will involve supporting the Senior Financial Wellbeing Coordinator with the delivery of a variety of financial related activities and events, such as workshops and staffing stands.

You will be expected to work a flexible shift pattern with most shifts taking place Monday-Friday during the day, and some occasional evening and weekend work as needed.

We’re looking for someone who is able to establish positive relationships, well-organised, and confident working both independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication skills, ability to identify gaps and suggest ways to improve the service, and a genuine commitment to student support are essential. You'll be a key contributor to the smooth running of our service and a positive representative of our values: openness, inclusivity, and continuous improvement.
