Who are we?

We are Manchester Students’ Union, the biggest SU in the country, supporting over 40,000 students throughout their time at university. We help to make student life the best it can be by supporting students to campaign for change, creating opportunities to meet new people, providing employment opportunities, providing advice and support and being a safe place on campus.

Our team of around 400 part-time, studying staff are instrumental in providing to support to all departments as well as leading major projects like Student Angels. About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for soon-to-be-graduates at the University of Manchester to join the Students’ Union Research and Insight team for the next academic year 2025-26. At the University of Manchester Students' Union, our mission is to be the voice of students at Manchester, effecting change and enriching student life together. To enable us to effectively be a strong voice, we need to ensure that we are experts in our students by gathering regular feedback into their experience. Our Research and Insight Coordinator for Academic Experience enables us to gather and review data and insight on the student academic experience throughout the academic year. You will be responsible for collecting data, and creating and designing reports after analysing the data. You will support any Education related Students’ Union campaigns, support the production of the annual Student Voice Report and liaise with the University to support our joint priorities.

The Research and Insight Coordinator role would require analysing both quantitative and qualitative data obtained from Union surveys, other sources, interviews, and focus groups. The coordinator is responsible for meeting Students’ Union and University staff, designing and implementing relevant research projects. Some examples of include the Educate MCR campaign, Build Your MCR campaign, and other Education related research. Additionally, you will review older Education reports to provide insights to the Education team.

This job is perfect for you if you wish to build skills in data analysis (qualitative and quantitative), report writing, communication, critical thinking, shaping focus groups, creating insight and working with different teams. Previous experience of using Microsoft Excel for data analysis, and Canva or Microsoft Word for Report writing is desirable. We are open to using other software you have knowledge in to analyse and visualise data.

Salary: £24,863

Contract: Permanent / Fixed-Term until

Hours: 35 hours per week

Eligibility: Open to applicants with relevant skills and experience who are eligible to work in the UK and a recent graduate from the University of Manchester (i.e. if you graduate in July or December 2025)
