Who are we?

We are Manchester Students’ Union, the biggest SU in the country, supporting over 40,000 students throughout their time at university. We help to make student life the best it can be by supporting students to campaign for change, creating opportunities to meet new people, providing employment opportunities, providing advice and support and being a safe place on campus.

We are a values-centred organisation that employs around 90 permanent, full-time members of staff. We recruit a wide range of roles throughout the year within all our departments from our Commercial team operating Manchester Academy Venues, 13 Media, Bar 532 & Kitchen and Corridor Coffee to our Student Activities, Student Engagement, Marketing and Communications, Finance, HR and Facilities teams. Our team of around 400 part-time, studying staff are instrumental in providing to support to all departments as well as leading major projects like Student Angels. About the role

Are you passionate about creating inclusive communities and supporting international students to thrive? Join University of Manchester Students’ Union as our new International Student Engagement Coordinator and help shape innovative projects that make a real difference.

The International Student Engagement Coordinator will play a vital role in our new International Student Engagement Department. This team was established to support international students, celebrate cultural diversity, and break down barriers to participation in student life. As the International Student Engagement Coordinator, you’ll help to design and deliver exciting new initiatives, from running a Buddy Scheme and Language Café to supporting the creation of an International Student Advisory Board.

This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working flexibly in a dynamic environment, is highly organised, and has a genuine passion for student engagement.

Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver international student engagement projects, campaigns, and events.
- Provide administrative support, including managing inboxes, handling queries, and keeping accurate records.
- Build strong relationships with international students and student groups, gathering feedback to shape future initiatives.
- Collaborate with student societies and other departments to co-deliver activities.
- Recruit, supervise, and support student staff, ensuring a positive and inclusive working culture.

About You:
We’re looking for someone who can bring energy, organisation, and creativity to the team. To succeed as International Student Engagement Coordinator, you’ll need to demonstrate:
- Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with confidence in engaging diverse audiences.
- Attention to detail and a proactive, flexible approach to new challenges.
- A genuine interest in supporting international students, and an understanding of the unique challenges they may face.
- The ability to work independently, take initiative, and see projects through from planning to completion.

Details

Salary: £24,863 - £27,013

Contract: Fixed-Term until 31st July 2028

Hours: 35 hours per week

Eligibility: Open to applicants with relevant skills and experience who are eligible to work in the UK
