Who are we?
We are Manchester Students’ Union, the biggest SU in the country, supporting over 40,000 students throughout their time at university. We help to make student life the best it can be by supporting students to campaign for change, creating opportunities to meet new people, providing employment opportunities, providing advice and support and being a safe place on campus.
We are a values-centred organisation that employs around 90 permanent, full-time members of staff. We recruit a wide range of roles throughout the year within all our departments from our Commercial team operating Manchester Academy Venues, 13 Media, Bar 532 & Kitchen and Corridor Coffee to our Student Activities, Student Engagement, Marketing and Communications, Finance, HR and Facilities teams. Our team of around 400 part-time, studying staff are instrumental in providing to support to all departments as well as leading major projects like Student Angels. About the role
Are you passionate about social media, creative storytelling, and student life? Do you know your way around TikTok trends, Instagram reels, and content that gets people talking? We’re looking for a Social Media Coordinator to join our dynamic Social Media & Communications Team. You’ll play a key role in delivering engaging, inclusive, and creative content across our digital channels—Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube and more. This role is all about amplifying student voices, supporting impactful campaigns, and ensuring our platforms are as exciting and representative as our student body.
The Social Media & Communications Team is at the heart of connecting with students, staff, and partners. We’re here to make sure students know what’s happening, feel welcome and informed, and are inspired to get involved. From major campaigns and events to everyday updates, everything we do supports our goal to be inclusive, accessible and student-led.
As Social Media Coordinator, you’ll:
- Plan and publish engaging content across multiple platforms, with a target of at least 15 original pieces of content a month
- Monitor social media performance, producing monthly analytics reports and recommendations to help our platforms grow
- Coordinate a team of student content creators, helping them bring fresh and authentic ideas to life
- Contribute to campaigns and projects, working across departments to deliver content that hits the mark and meets our goals
- Support the maintenance of our content calendar, ensuring our messaging is balanced, timely and aligned
- Champion accessibility and inclusion, applying best practices to ensure all students feel represented and heard
This is a full-time role (35 hours per week) with flexible working options, including the possibility of hybrid working. You'll be based at the main Students’ Union building in Manchester, with opportunities to work remotely where appropriate. The contract runs until the end of July 2025 and is a great step to starting a career in marketing & communications. You will need to be able to start Full Time in July.

Salary: £24,520 - 26,640
